Bring your gizmo (doesn't have to be electronics),        Become a competitor - add your name to a category

On Thursday evening after dinner we are going to run Olympics of Gizmos.  There will be three categories :

First Category -For individual participants:  who has the COOLEST Gadget in each product type!! and Why!

There will be a number of product lines: Cell phones, PDA, laptops, digital cameras. Geiger counters, GPS, electric chairs, robots, mp3 players, Ipods, electronic games, old calculators, and any other kind of gadget you wish to offer and bring with you. . In order to participate you must have the product with you.

Those who are willing to compete in each product type, will be given 2 minutes each, during which they will have a chance to explain passionately why their gizmo is the best in the category . the most convincing one will be the winner for the category. Winner for each category  will be elected by popular analog on-line voting (level of applauds).

• Cars, Bikes and any other means of transportation:
  yochai rafaelli :I will bring the Bazooka Navigator folding mountain bicycles
  Nimrod Lehavi: I will bring a mini radio controlled car
  
• Network Computers
  Guy Vardi: I will bring a hacked Gateway Connected
• Robots:
  Shai Abramson : I will bring 2 or 3 types of vacuuming robots (such as the Karcher)  
• Wearable Computers
  Sharon Carmel: I have a wearable computer with head mount display! Great concept

• Mobiles
  Sharon Carmel: My Nokia N.GAGE Phone (lots of cool Games real-time 3D).

• PDA  
• Digital Cameras
• MP3 players
• Electronic games
• GPS
• Electric Chairs
• Personal gieger counters
• Mother-in-law (can be brought only to the olympics session )
• Electronic kids toys

Second, special category : the ideal gift to the somebody you really hate !

Competitors in this category will advocate the most annoying product, gadget , software , machine, book .

Third category - for individuals OR teams - GiZMOTHON ! who has the winning COLLECTION of gizmos?   

 in this category , competitors  ,who can be either individuals or  few people which form a team, will bring from home at least six different gqdgets . the winner will be selected on the basis of how bizzare ,imaginative,  original , different and special his collection is. competitors are asked to post here what gadgets they are considering bringing (but you will be welcomed even if you dont post it - just bring it with you). each competitor will be given two mintues to advocate his collection ,which he must present in the olympics

• Amnon Dekel and Guy Vardi Vinatge Collection: Can we form groups? { sure !! GREAT IDEA!!! ,thanks} I don't think I make the 6 gizmo cuttoff... I can bring a working Macintosh Plus, an original Edison Cone Record (Although I don't have a player), a Cannon 8mm film camera, a Magnavox Odyssey (the first video game console) and an Osborne 1 (the first portable computer and a living example of the "Osborne effect"). Anyone want to pool resources?{how about some new sfuff}[Amnon- Until now I have never bought version 1.0 hardware- I prefer to put my resources into working things... But I love experimenting with other people's equipment and software!] CTX Vintage transparent LCD for use on Overhead Projectors.

Special session: The Gadgeteer - a Memoir (Hanan Cohen)

More than twenty years ago my father invented a small hand held continuity tester. It was manufectured by the Kibbutz and is now copied all over the world and sits in every electritians' shirt pocket.

I want to tell you about how my father came about to invent the tester, show it to you and even maybe show you how it can detect current flowing through many people.
